Help for Linda and family!
On January 10, 2018 our dear Linda lost consciousness due to COPD complications and stopped breathing, but luckily her daughter Nicole was there to call for help. Linda's son in law Tony administered CPR and was able to get her breathing again. However due to lack of oxygen she suffered brain injury. She was taken to Presbyterian Hospital of Queens where she was placed in MICU for several weeks.
The time she spent without oxygen caused significant brain damage. She is currently in a vegetative state; going from wake to sleep cycles. The doctors do not believe there has been any improvement as the last MRI did not show improvement in comparison to the original taken.
Her family and friends on the other hand are hopeful and see improvement; such as her eyes frequently opening and moving around, more arms/legs/feet movement that seems to coincide when she is asked questions. At this time she is out of ICU but requires round the clock care. The family is also seeking additional doctor's opinions to her current prognosis.
With many people asking the family what they can do to help, on behalf of the Oramas/Santana families we have created this GoFundMe page . Linda and family will be incurring a lot of private and medical expenses for her care that will not be covered by her current insurance. This is not in any way a plea for money. If you would like to support by contributing you can by donating any amount desired.
We ask that you continue to keep Linda in your healing prayers and encourage you to continue to visit and bring her some much needed stimulation. We are hopeful and have faith that she will come out of this.
God bless and thank you.
