Help Lilli Fight Inoperable Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
Hi!
I am Christina. I am Lilli's oldest daughter.
In 2019, Lilli faced her first trials with pancreatic cancer. She was able to have surgery at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, and then with the continued help of family and friends, recovered and began her chemotherapy closer to home near Panama City.
Over the last few years, we all thought the cancer was entirely gone. However, late last year, Lilli began experiencing severe stomach pain. Her doctors, to include her local oncologist, assumed because her bloodwork was normal, that she was experiencing GERD.
In February, my sister, Cassy, got involved in the medical appointments. As a result, with her push for scans, we learned that the cancer is back and has grown around two arteries making it inoperable. (It was confirmed when Lilli and Cassy took a quick trip to Shands for additional testing.)
During all this time, Lilli has been living with excruciating pain that is getting worse and worse despite pain medications. She has lost a lot of weight because she cannot eat well. Plus, she is experiencing trouble with her diabetes, because of poor eating and sleeping - all pain related.
The first main plan of action is to get Lilli to Shands for a procedure to help minimize her pain - a nerve block.
While there, the radiologic oncologists will run several tests and scans as well as fit Lilli to a custom bed so she can do ten days of focused radiation therapy.
Once that radiation therapy is complete, Lilli can return home to begin chemotherapy.
I am setting up this GoFundMe for three reasons:
-First - to help Lilli cover co-pays, deductibles, prescriptions, recurring medical expenses for radiation and chemo therapy, travel expenses to and from Gainesville as well as back and forth to Panama City over the next several months, etc. There is no way to know for sure how much these things will end up being, but Lilli only draws in partial social security and is unable to work.
-Second - to help cover loss of income for my sister who is the immediate, local caregiver for Lilli. Every time she has to shut down her business, which she does willingly to aid Lilli, she loses substantial income and risks losing clients. If she ends up being sole caregiver while Lilli is at Shands, Cassy stands to suffer severe financial loss that affects her whole family.
-Third - to help cover travel, lodging, food, etc to get Lilli and her caregiver(s) to Shands for at least two and a half weeks. This does include travel expenses for me as I desperately want to help: to alleviate pressure on my sister and my dad. Problem is, I am in Montana. They are all in Florida. (2,600 miles apart.) My own income (disability) is not enough to cover even a portion of the expenses to get me there and back home.
Lilli needs your help.
Cassy and I need your help.
This time, we cannot do this alone.
If you wish to donate, please know our family thanks you deeply and sincerely. If you cannot, we understand. In that case, we crave your prayers for Lilli and our family as we do all we can to get Lilli the care she so desperately needs.
Thank you and God bless!
Christina
