LEWY The Lion is a Brisbane institution. This charming, funny little guy loves riding in the
car, going for runs with his best mate Pete, and waiting atop the local bus stop for Pete to
come home from work.

Unfortunately last week LEWY was rushed to Brisbane’s Animal Referral hospital for
surgery on his upper colon after being
physically sick more than 30 times in one day. He’s also been diagnosed with a corneal ulcer and depression.
Poor little bloke.
His Dad Pete (who for clarity’s sake isn’t me) is also a legend, a kind man with incredible passion, humour and the biggest of all hearts.
Pete’s had to move away from his
partner and LEWY to look after his Mum, who is 85 and was diagnosed with leukaemia last
year. It’s been a hard slog for then all
emotionally and mentally and has been
extremely challenging. Working as a brilliant
full- time chef has been out of the question for Pete, as has being able to receive a carer’s
pension.
I’m not exaggerating at all when I say Pete is
the first person to jump in and offer help to
others, while always being reluctant to ask for help himself.
Which is why you’re reading this right now.
Unfortunately LEWY’S vet bills have run into
the thousands of dollars. I reckon it’s time to
give back and help these guys out. Any
