Hi everyone! I’d like to share the story of Lewie, a sweet, spirited puppy I’m currently fostering—and who’s quickly become a beloved part of my household. Lewie, short for King Lewie III, has had quite the journey. He’s one of seven puppies born into a heartbreaking situation. As the product of irresponsible backyard breeding, Lewie, his siblings, and their parents were confined to a filthy, resource-starved backyard with barely any food or mental stimulation.

When the breeders’ fence fell, the whole pack escaped, running loose through the neighborhood until animal control and La Habra PD intervened, rescuing them from their dire conditions. While some found temporary homes, I was fortunate enough to step in and take Lewie from a well-meaning caretaker who couldn’t offer the medical care he needed.

Despite all he’s endured, Lewie has shown immense resilience and love for life. But during his first vet visit, we learned he has two broken canine teeth, likely fractured as he desperately tried to escape the harsh environment he came from. These broken teeth urgently need to be extracted to prevent infection and further complications. Lewie is also scheduled to be neutered to ensure his long-term health.

Since Lewie wasn’t placed through a rescue organization, the costs of his dental procedure and neuter will fall entirely on me. I’m committed to giving him the life he deserves, but these expenses are significant and unexpected. Your generous support will go directly towards ensuring Lewie can live pain-free and healthy, surrounded by the love and comfort he’s finally found.
