We are raising money to help financially support our dear friend Loo through her medical nightmares.
Loo is an Indigenous, Queer womxn going to school for horticulture in Duamish territory (so-called Seattle).
For the past 6 months she has been dealing with undiagnosed medical problems, that have quickly escalated after having questionable dental work. The medical attention she has received has been extremely harmful. She has been gaslit by her doctors, sent in circles taking the same tests, and treated inhumanely by medical professionals not prioritizing her recovery or quality of life. This is clearly a racist and classist experience and the truth of dealing with the white medical system.
This has been traumatizing to navigate.
On top of dealing with a medical system that clearly isn’t invested in her health or well being, Loo has had to miss so much work and is currently not consistently working. She has been a bartender for the past 18 years. There is so much nerve pain in her body, she can’t show up to the job she holds dear. Job scarcity and medical bills are piling up. It is a time of crisis.
Loo recently got information from an endondist, that she needs to repair the work she had done in July. A deep filling close to the nerve. The procedure resulted in nerve pain in her face and neck, and is likely contributing to pain over much of the right side of her body. A root canal will bring relief and possibly help her overall condition. Regardless, it must happen. Altogether the costs come to $3,700. We have rounded up to cover a months rent for post dental surgery recovery.
We are asking our community and beyond to show up for this friend moving through some deeply scary and painful things. Taking the financial burden off Loo for this procedure is gravely important in supporting her recovery. Please join us in our efforts! Help our friend finish school and find some answers without falling deeper in debt to a system that clearly doesn't care about her survival or thriving!
This is also a great way to pay reparations with "thanksgiving" around the corner and show up to this Indigenous Queer!
