Hi everyone,
I have had the distinct honor and pleasure of having Leia on my high school rugby team, the Parma Pink Flamingos. Leia joined the team as a scrawny young girl with a feisty attitude. She immediately fell in love with the game and looked forward to practice and games each day. Her grades were not up to par so she was held out of the sport. She made sure that never happened again! She became a top performer with her grades and a true leader on the team. Leia would travel whatever distance for practice and was always there. COVID made it where we lost a season and eventually folded the team. Leia continued to play with Amherst and Brecksville/Broadview. She also made efforts at becoming a referee.
Late last year Leia was having some knee issues and wound up sitting out of a game, on the way home she went to an urgent care where they found blood in her urine and then sent her to the ER. They very quickly learned she had Acute Myogenic Leukemia and began treatment immediately at Rainbow Babies and Children. She stayed in the hospital from October through to mid February when she came home for a little while before transferring to St Jude's in Memphis Tennessee.
Leia is a warrior and she needs our prayers and help. She cannot kick the infection in her knee and it is preventing her from getting some of the treatment she needs. The chemo is also very damaging to her very frail body. We are asking that you send positive energy, thoughts and prayers to her and her family. We are also asking that you give what ever you can to help her family to help ease the financial strain and continue to the provide Leia the care and support that is much needed.
