Help Left Voice Get Louder: Fund Independent Media

2020, what a year. A year that began with Australia on fire and a drone assassination of an Iranian general was only bound to get more arduous. Then, what feels like a century ago, the coronavirus pandemic --- previously mostly ignored by the international community --- came to the fore with skyrocketing infection rates. Minneapolis police strangled George Floyd to death in broad daylight on May 25, and the movement against police brutality and racist terror burst back onto the scene. The year culminated in the U.S. election, contested mostly by Trump’s Twitter account.
In that time, Left Voice has been busy. We covered the pandemic from the shop floor with workers’ testimonials and the struggles of “essential workers” to get what they need instead of commercials and thank-yous from companies who don’t give a damn. On the frontlines of the healthcare crisis, doctor and nurse correspondents organized actions for PPE and broadcast their fight to the world. Left Voice reporters were on the ground each night at the height of the Black Lives Matter uprising, the country’s largest movement in history, confronting the police and taking the streets from New York City to Detroit to Los Angeles.
We complemented our reporting with theory and strategy, expanding on democratic rights in the “land of the free,” formulating our views in a program of action, and initiating a monthly online magazine supplement to continue the discussions in long-form articles. True to our internationalist perspective, we have tirelessly brought news and analysis of this new era of class struggle unfolding around the world, including on-the-ground reporting from Chile during last year’s uprising and, more recently, from the land occupation in Guernica, Argentina, where thousands of families, made houseless by the pandemic, occupied land and squared off against the state’s forces. Our international reporting continues with original articles and translations from the La Izquierda Diario network highlighting movements throughout Latin America and Europe.
Because of these efforts, we have jumped from 30,000 visits per month to our website to 150k. But we don't want to stop there --- we want to go for more. We want to reach millions with our press with an anticapitalist, independent, internationalist and socialist point of view in a world in crisis. We've been able to make this leap so far because of all the support from our readers, friends and supporters like you, who've been fighting with us in the streets and collaborating through social media. To grow further and achieve the goals we've set for ourselves, we need your help!
For Giving Tuesday, we've set ourselves a goal of $2,000 (that we hope we can surpass). These funds will go directly towards the development of Left Voice as a press in the near future, including paying for a new and more efficient website, production of multimedia content and more. We hope that you can pitch in whatever you can to help us reach these new milestones in our fight for socialism.
