Help Leadership Petaluma

Donation protected
The Leadership Petaluma class of 2018 is joining forces with other groups in town to help create an east-side center for homeless and at-risk young adults.

The Transitional Aged Youth Service Alliance (TAYSA) is a collaborative programming project between Mentor Me, The Salvation Army (Petaluma Corps), Petaluma People Services Center and Petaluma City Schools. In addition, there will be help from community partners such as the Leadership Petaluma Class of 2018, The Petaluma Service Alliance and Rebuilding Together to create a mini-Cavanagh Rec Center on the East Side of town. This center will be in the part of The Salvation Army Church that would have a focus on the older teens and transitional aged youth (ages 16-24), primarily those who are frequently homeless, unemployed and/or out of school. Many of these "kids" are drug involved and have mental health issues.

This center will collectively address basic needs such as food, clothing and housing, and move to mental and physical health needs with counseling and treatment plans, and then focus on education and employment.

The Leadership Petaluma class of 2018 will be the lead on the Community Center portion of this project which includes the large community room and three offices to be used for mentoring, counseling, case management and registration. They will also assume responsibility for the façade of the Center making sure it is a clean, well-lit and inviting place to come. The Leadership class is looking for monetary and in-kind donations to help them create this vision.

Here is an overview of each room with samples of how you can help the project.

Leadership Petaluma, is a program of the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, more than two dozen men and women graduate from the 10-month long Leadership Petaluma program. Ten graduating classes have introduced tomorrow's leaders to the community, and many of these graduates have gone on to important positions of leadership in our community, in business, government, and non-profits. This year the current class will follow in the tradition of more than 400 Leadership alums.
