Josiah Midgyett, Ebony’s 16-year-old son, was only 16 years old when his life was tragically taken by senseless gang violence that he had nothing to do with. He was a young man with his whole life ahead of him, and he did not deserve for his life to end this way. Josiah had a loving and warm personality that made people feel welcome and cared for. He was funny, and whenever he came around, he had a way of making people smile. He had a beautiful heart and cared deeply for others. Josiah was the kind of person who would check on people to make sure they were okay, help when he was needed, and make those around him feel loved. That is the kind of young man Josiah was, and that is how his family wants him to be remembered.

Josiah’s family is creating this GoFundMe to ask for help and support as they work to lay their precious son to rest and honor his memory. Along with the emotional devastation of losing Josiah, the family is facing the financial burden of funeral and burial expenses, memorial costs, other expenses associated with this tragedy, and support for the family as they navigate this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden during this heartbreaking time and allow Josiah’s loved ones to focus on grieving and honoring his life with love and dignity.

The family understands that times are hard for many people, and they are grateful for every act of kindness. Whether someone is able to donate, share this fundraiser, offer a prayer, or send words of encouragement, please know that every bit of support means more than words can express. Josiah was more than the circumstances surrounding his death. He was a son who was deeply loved, a young man who brought smiles to people’s faces, and someone who made others feel that they mattered. His life mattered. His future mattered. His kindness mattered. And his memory will always matter. Although his family cannot bring Josiah back, they can honor his life, cherish the memories he gave them, and continue to share the love he showed to others. Rest peacefully, sweet Josiah Midgyett. You were taken far too soon. Your laughter, your loving heart, and the smiles you brought to others will never be forgotten. You made people feel loved, and you will forever be loved. Gone far too soon, missed beyond words, and loved for a lifetime.

With love and gratitude, Josiah’s Family
