<div>With the heaviest heart, I share that my beloved husband, Her Vue, passed away on August 11, 2025, after a courageous and heart-wrenching battle with Stage 4 metastatic cancer.

<div>We had only been married 11 months when Her was diagnosed. We never had the chance to build our life, our dreams, or our savings together. Every dollar we had and more went toward his fight for life. Now, after exhausting all of our funds on his medical care and expenses, I am faced with the devastating task of giving him the farewell he deserves.

<div>Her’s Cancer Journey

<div>Her was just 49 years old when cancer changed everything. Before his diagnosis, he was a healthy, hardworking man who loved life, family, and the outdoors. On April 12, 2025, what began as occasional back pain and leg burning quickly unraveled into a devastating reality. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma involving the bones, metastatic cancer to the spine, and a thoracic spine tumor, which later was confirmed to be Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

<div>He was transferred to UCSF, where scans revealed the unthinkable: widespread cancer in his pelvis, spine, chest bones, liver, kidneys, skull, and neck all riddled with tumors and lesions. We were blindsided. There was no warning, and even after extensive testing, the exact origin of the cancer was still unknown until his last days.

<div>Her endured major spinal surgery (T12 corpectomy with fusion from T10–L2) and 15 sessions of radiation therapy to his spine, sacrum, pelvis, and hip area. More radiation was planned for his thoracic spine. We prepared for chemotherapy and immunotherapy at UCSF, a grueling 3–5 hour trip each way, but his treatments were halted due to dangerously low blood counts. He became severely anemic, requiring multiple blood transfusions, and additional bone marrow biopsies were completed.

<div>We tried every possible way to cure his cancer including holistic medicine to parasite cleanse. He was doing well for two months until his bone marrow biopsy that appeared to have weakened his lower back and legs. He fractured his left side ribs due to bone fragility because of his cancer. He was in so much pain even at the slightest touch or move.

<div>His Final Battle

<div>Her was hospitalized three times before his final stay, each one leaving him weaker but still determined to fight. At the time of his last hospitalization, the cancer had aggressively spread to his skull, legs, spleen, and heart, leaving him completely incapacitated and in excruciating pain. He needed oxygen to function. His lungs were filled with fluids.

<div>His care team transitioned him to palliative care with extreme pain management plans. The plan was to bring him home with hospice so he could spend his final days surrounded by love. His hospice bed and equipment arrived home the day before his scheduled discharge, and he begged to go home, holding onto hope and fighting fiercely for more time.

<div>But fate was cruel. Just five hours before he was to be discharged, Her took his final breath in the hospital. At the time of his passing, he weighed only 94 lbs, his body worn down by the relentless cancer but his spirit never gave up. He lost over 50lbs in the short 4 months of battling cancer.
