My beloved Greg passed from Pancreatic Cancer

My name is Laurie Rudolph Francis. My husband is Greg Francis. We were together 35 years.

Greg passed away the morning of January 9, 2025 following a two month struggle with pancreatic cancer.

I took care of him 24/7 the last two weeks of his life. The night before he passed, a dear friend who is also a nurse, stayed overnight. She left in the morning but came back no more than 15 minutes later when I knew something was wrong.

It was heartbreaking. I don’t think Greg or I expected everything to end so quickly. But I was able to be with him when he passed.

We were still in the process of arranging more help and treatments for pain relief when his condition declined faster than I thought possible.

This would have been so much more stressful without the support I have received here.

I will keep Gofundme active for the next 4 to 6 weeks. With incoming bills and current necessities of life, any donation is helpful until the assistance I am waiting for comes through.

Greg was in the process of deciding on chemotherapy, based on genetic blood work results~ when he was admitted to the hospital by ambulance 12/19/24. He was able to pull out of that and be home for Christmas Eve but went downhill so quickly, chemo wasn’t an option anymore, even as he held out hope for something to alleviate his pain and allow him to do more.

I will always be extremely grateful I could have Greg home with me, and I did it with gratitude that I could be with him the final moments of his life.

My husband exhibited a true strength of character and braveness at a level I will never forget.

And so my story without Greg will continue but he is forever in my heart.
