<div>This is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but I’m at a point now where I’m desperate and need to reach out for help. Most of you that know me, know that I’ve been self conscious of my teeth for most of my life. It’s something that takes up most of my thoughts and has significantly impacted my life. A few years ago, I got some dental work done and a plan on the next steps. However, then COVID happened, and then life and then this past year especially has been a significant financial hardship for me. Between needing to buy a new car, vet bills and my own heath emergencies, this year has been really challenging. However I’ve worked really hard to get myself into a better situation, and while I’m in a much better place, it will take another year before I’m really back where I need to be.

<div>Recently however, I have been experiencing increased pain from an infection in my gums. There is unfortunately not much more time for me to have this addressed. I visited a dentist and in order for me to keep the majority of my teeth with fillings, bridges and crowns, on top of orthodental work, the estimate is around 90k, which is more than I make in a year. That means that the next best option for me is a full mouth of implants, which are around $44,000. I’ve since then been looking into options abroad, where I can get this work done for around $25-30,000, including the airfare and hotel for the procedure. This is my best option at this point.

<div>I am currently able to pay for/finance about half of that amount. I’m looking at part time jobs and selling some belongings to come up with the other half, but I am nervous about prolonging this procedure that I desperately need right now. I am unable to eat or talk without being in pain. I constantly worry that the infection will spread or that a blood clot will go to my heart or brain. I’ve reached a point where i avoid interacting with people I don’t know because I’m so self conscious.

<div>I know that things are incredibly difficult for us right now. The cost of living is a hardship for so many, on top of waking up each day to a new tragedy and more people who need help. I recognize that I have a lot of privilege in this situation, in which I have the means to work and travel abroad for this procedure with paid time off. Even when times are tough, I have always managed to dig myself out, however I am at the point now where I don’t know what else to do but ask for help. If you’re able to offer any amount whatsoever, it would mean a lot to me. The faster I can come up with the other half, the faster I can get my life back on track. I’m turning 40 in two months and I don’t want to be held back by this any longer. If you’re unable to donate, just sharing this so it reaches more people would be an immense help. Maybe there’s a non-evil billionaire out there who will come across this.
