Help Laura, Brandon & Taylor Recover and Rebuild

Donation protected

On the morning of March 23, 2023, exactly one month after we crossed the border to the United States, our tour van slid on black ice and flipped off the road down a 50 ft embankment off the side of the highway. The van made 3 full rotations, bouncing and flipping down the hill before landing upright far away from the road one rotation away from slamming us into the power lines and ending the tour forever. In shock, we pulled ourselves from the wreckage miraculously alive and were greeted by a kind stranger shouting to us from the side of the highway who kept us warm in their car and who had called the first responders before we made the formidable hike back up to the road. Soon enough, we were all checked out by the paramedics who arrived at the scene and brought back to the sheriff's office in the nearby town of Walden, CO. We would eventually meet the tow truck driver in the parking lot of the office and sell them the remains of our new-converted home on wheels for $300 off the originally quoted $1,900USD tow truck fee.

We were stranded in the town of Walden with no buses or trains out of the town and a population of less than 600. Laura’s uncle heroically drove 3 hours through 2 snowstorms to pick us up with all of our gear and pack us into their Nissan Rogue before making the foreboding drive back to their house in Denver. It is here that we now reside, contemplating how and when we will be able to pick up the pieces, heal and get back on the road.

We are all, the 3 of us, professional musicians. For the past four weeks, we have been successfully living our dreams, traveling and playing shows to eclectic and receptive audiences all around North America. It has been, for all of us, the most validating month of our lives. Not only have we been living our dreams but it has been, by all metrics up until the accident, entirely sustainable in the long term. With that in mind, we plan to be touring 6 months out of the year as we have in past years, but never during the winter ever again.

Before we can get back to touring we need to raise enough money to have some necessities met. We are calling on our community to please help us in our climb back up from the crash. Our insurance wont cover anything to do with the van expenses and it is still unclear if it will cover much in regards to our mental and physical recovery. I’ll detail how much we are hoping to raise and how it will be used below.

$40,000+
A new(ish) van, safely converted to sleep and transport 3 people and with a 4x4x4 locked space allocated for musical gear. Capable of traveling at least another 100,000 miles.

$13,500+
Counseling and physiotherapy for the 3 of us. It is still too early to know how much damage our brush with death has inflicted on our bodies and minds. However, it is all but assured that healing will take time, effort and capital. What we know now is that Laura has sustained a concussion and whiplash symptoms affecting her back and neck, Brandon has what looks like bruised or cracked ribs and we all have serious signs of PTSD and shock. It is unclear how much of the physical and mental recovery process will be covered by insurance at this time.

$5,000+
Miscellaneous costs during this transitionary period. While we figure out our way back to normal we will need to cover our cost of living and travel back to our hometown to recoup. We did not only lose our mode of transportation but our method of income. Being able to maintain our food and living costs during this grace period is essential for us logistically leaving on tour again.

We thank you so much for reading through our story and for any small or large donation that you can put towards getting us our lives back. If you are able, please share our story so that we might raise money and awareness. We all feel that we are meant to be traveling artists and any help that can be provided by our community to get back to that way of life is greatly appreciated.
