Help Larry Knapp Battle Metastatic Kidney Cancer

My name is Jody, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my younger brother, Larry Knapp. Larry is 54 years old — a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and one of the kindest, most
hard-working men you could ever meet.

Seven years ago, Larry was diagnosed with kidney cancer. It was a frightening time for our family — one filled with surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and endless prayers. Larry had a kidney removed and endured months of grueling treatments. Through it all, he showed incredible resilience, responding well to every hurdle thrown his way. Eventually, he heard the words we had all prayed for: “cancer-free.” For the next seven years, he lived each day with gratitude, cherishing time with his family and embracing life fully.

But this past June, things took a turn. Larry began feeling unwell — fatigued, losing weight, and suffering from severe abdominal pain that made eating nearly impossible. A visit to his doctor led to a referral back to his oncologist. A PET scan revealed the unthinkable: the cancer had returned, this time having metastasized to his lung, liver, spleen, and abdominal area.

The journey ahead will be challenging. Larry has already had six liters of fluid drained from his abdomen, bringing him some relief. Today, he began his once-a-month immunotherapy infusion, and tomorrow he will start his oral cancer medication. His official diagnosis is now Stage IV kidney cancer, and his doctors have given a prognosis of 4 to 4½ years.

But Larry is not giving up. His determination is fierce. He is committed to doing whatever it takes — supported by his faith, his loving wife Courtney, and the steadfast encouragement of his family and friends. He has goals that fuel him: to see his two younger sons graduate from high school and to watch his grandchildren from his two older children grow up.

While Larry focuses on his fight, the financial burden is immense — mounting medical bills, travel to appointments, medication costs, and basic living expenses during a time when working
is no longer possible. He has always been the one to help others; now, he needs our help.

Every donation — no matter the size — will help lighten the load so he can concentrate on the most important thing: time. Time with his wife. Time with his children. Time with his grandchildren. Time to live each moment fully.

If you are unable to give financially, please share Larry’s story. Your prayers, your encouragement, and your love mean more than words can ever express.

Larry beat cancer once before. With faith, determination, and the support of his community, he will face this battle head-on — and fight for every precious day.

From the bottom of our hearts,
Jody and Family
