Hi everyone, my name is Andy McKee, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for a family that means everything to me.
This past Saturday, we lost an incredible woman, LaQuitta Scurry (Barnes). She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her. Her passing has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of those who loved her, and now, her family is facing the difficult reality of funeral expenses during this heartbreaking time.
For 30 years, her brother, Fonzo, has been more than my best friend; he is my brother. Since we met in 6th grade, his family became my family. His mother became my mother. His sister, Quitta, became my sister. Through every milestone, every challenge, and every joy, we have been there for each other. I loved Quitta more than I was ever able to put into words and I'm going to miss her so very much.
But more than anything else, Quitta loved Jesus in a way that we should all strive to love Him. She lived to share the Gospel and gave glory to God in every breath she ever took on this earth. Now, she is reunited with her loving daddy, Lee, in Heaven and standing in the presence of her Heavenly Father—free from pain, free from struggle, and singing with the angels for eternity.
As this family grieves, I want to be there for them the way they have always been there for me. I am starting this GoFundMe to raise $5,000 to help cover funeral expenses and ease the financial burden on them during this incredibly difficult time. Whatever extra is raised will be given to her mother Isabel to help with any additional expenses the family will encounter during this difficult time.
If you have ever had a friend who became your family, you understand the depth of this bond. I humbly ask for your kindness and generosity—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser with others. Every bit of support, no matter the amount, will help give Quitta the farewell she deserves and provide comfort to a family that has given so much love to so many.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers, your support, and your love during this time.
With gratitude,
Andy McKee
