Help Lance Fight Crohn's Disease

Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Brandy and I am reaching out for help on behalf of my brother in law, Lance, and my sister, Brooke.

In 2012, Lance was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Since that time, his disease has progressed from moderate to severe and has caused his life to be changed forever. Since receiving his diagnosis, Lance has been placed on numerous medications in hopes of controlling the disease and allowing Lance to work and have a normal life. After trying every medication available to treat Crohn's disease, including biological medications, his body did not respond to any of them. As a result, in July 2016 Lance underwent surgery to remove his entire colon along with some of his intestines. His surgery was incredibly complicated and lasted for 9 hours. The doctor had created a "j pouch" for him and reconnected his intestines to this. A day later, he developed a severe infection and was rushed in for an emergency surgery. This resulted in Lance receiving an ileostomy and he had to wear a colostomy bag until his body could heal well enough for the reconnection surgery to be attempted again. He was in the hospital for almost a month before he was finally released to go home. Over the next few months, After undergoing a couple of other surgeries to remove scar tissue and correct other complications, he underwent surgery in January 2017 to reverse the ileostomy and reconnect the j pouch. We were all very hopeful that the reconnection and the j pouch would be successful and help Lance to find some sort of relief. However, the reconnection has not worked and has resulted in Lance having a surgery every single month since January to provide relief for him. Because the j pouch is not working for him, Lance will undergo another major surgery to remove the j pouch and once again reroute his intestines and do another ileostomy. Lance will be forced to permanently wear a colostomy bag.

As if dealing with Crohn's and the numerous surgeries isn't enough, because Crohn's is an auto immune disease, it has caused him to also develop fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. They are also testing him for Lupus. Lance is in constant pain and suffering from dealing with the combination of these diseases. It has completely changed his life and also the life of my sister. Lance has been unable to work since 2015. Coincidentally, in 2015 Lance and Brooke also welcomed a son, Benjamin. My sister is now the only one who is able to work and also takes care of Lance and Benjamin herself. It has not been easy on her and because of the numerous medical bills, medications, childcare expenses and missing so much time from work, Brooke is greatly struggling to take care of them on her own. Lance filed for disability back in October and was denied in December. He has filed an appeal for the benefits and is currently waiting for a hearing date, which can take up to 18 months.

They are not ones to ask for help so  I am asking on their behalf.  This is such an incredibly difficult time in their life. I know they will get through this with our prayers and support, so  Please help me help them by sending your prayers and support any way you can. Any amount, large or small will help so much more than you know!  numerous bills to pay, A beautiful baby boy to raise, and only one of them working --- that cuts out half of their monthly earnings--while Lance fights through these diseases that I wouldn't wish upon anyone.
