About one year ago they were diagnosed with cancer and had to remove one of their kidneys as part of the treatment. They also proceeded with additional forms of cancer treatment such as chemotherapy and fortunately, have been cancer-free since.

<div>However, about two months ago their last native kidney experienced acute kidney failure. It suddenly stopped working completely and was releasing toxins in the body so it needed to be quickly removed.

<div>A few weeks ago they had surgery to remove this last kidney and received a kidney transplant. However, the transplant never ended up working and was rejected by the body even after waiting some time. It is also causing difficulties with breathing, massive inflammation and internal bleeding so it needs to be removed quickly and replaced with another transplant.

<div>My friend has limited health insurance options and has had to cover a significant portion of their medical expenses out of pocket up. The expenses have really caught up with them and they are in a bind. They are also too ashamed and embarrassed to ask for help. But the situation is life threatening.

<div>My friend means the world to me. I really want to help them, but I need help in doing so since the costs are high. Any donated funds will be used towards the surgery and hospital expenses for removing the ineffective kidney transplant and putting in the new kidney transplant.
