Four years ago 34-year-old Leila was mercilessly acid-attacked by her now ex-husband. Events following the brutal attack have left Leila disfigured and after so many operations still recovering and in need of our help.

Leyla was born to the couple who lived with my parents and used to be like their own daughter, having a new born in the house was very welcoming and joyous to everyone who lived there.  they got separated when my parents sold their house and moved away, my mom has kept contact with their family all these years. on her last visit back home she found out about the tragic events that had happened to Leila and for the last couple of years we have been regularly in contact with her and have helped her with all the costs of her treatments so far she has gotten her hearing back and is in the process of getting prostheses ears and has had laser done on her hands and still has a long road to recovery.  

Her story began 4 years ago shortly after her divorce. She was living with her two children in a small condo that they had purchased for their family.  Her ex-husband was addicted to crack and alcohol and could no longer support himself or the family. He kept asking Leila to sell their small 2 bedroom condo because he needed the money to fuel his addiction. Leila refused to sell the house knowing that she and her kids would be homeless. He began to threaten Leila telling her that if she does not let him sell the condo she would be sorry, after months of harassment, he asked her to meet at a local park to mend their differences and come to an agreement.

She agreed to meet, but since she had no trust in his temper and all the previous threats, she had asked her mother to go along with her. It was there at the park that this monster changed this innocent girls life forever. He attacked both Leila and her mother with the acid, pouring it onto Leila and also her mother. They both suffered severe burns all over their bodies. Her mother has lost the ability to walk since the acid was poured on her legs and her knees and Leila suffered the majority of the burns on the side her face, she says she was covering her face with her hand and it mostly poured to the side of her face and burned her ear and the side of her body.

During the court proceedings after the acid attack, Laila’s ex-husband bribed witnesses to lie and say that they had seen Leila and her mother pouring the acid on themselves and unfortunately in some Islamic countries the women have no right or value in the eyes of the law, subsequently the courts ruled in favor of the ex- husband and granted him parental rights to the children, as well as the ownership of the apartment. Leila was forced to live in her mother's apartment. She was left alone to take care of herself and her mother through this traumatic experience.

For the past 4 years with the help of good Samaritans, Leila was able to undergo multiple surgeries in efforts to recover the damage done by the acid attack. Two weeks ago, her ex-husband dropped off her two kids at Leila's front door. He was again out of money and unable to support the children. Leila currently has no job and is still going through treatments and caring for her mother and now the two teenage daughters while still recovering from her own injuries.

Her ultimate dream is to open an alteration studio so she can provide for her daughters and very ill mother.
We are asking the gofund community to help Leila and her family to raise money for her life and hopefully one day be able to get her life back.
