Help Kyle pay for life long infusion medication.
Hello everyone, some of you may already know this, but in August of 2016 I was diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis. ulcerative colitis is an Autoimmune disorder in which my white blood cells periodically attack a portion of my colon because they view it as a foreign body. This results in extreme abdominal pain, malnutrition, and bowel movements that are comprised mostly of blood. Through countless medication trials with multiple Gastroenterologists, I was able to manage my flare-ups and reach remission for the last four years through the use of steroids and enemas, however this treatment has proven to be no longer effective.
Beginning in May of this year I began to experience a severe flare up that progressively worsened over a span of 2 months. My normal weight is around 200 lbs and I quickly diminished to 160 lbs. I had no appetite, couldn't stay away from a bathroom for more than an hour, and developed depression.
On July 16th, 2021 I was hospitalized due to the severe complications of my ulcerative colitis. During my stay at the hospital, the Doctors inserted a PICC line into my arm to bypass my gastrointestinal system entirely so my bowels could rest and so that I could finally receive the vital nutrients I had been missing for so long. This is called TPN or Total Parental Nutrition. I'll be receiving my nutrients this way for the next few weeks and will be limited to only small amounts of liquids by mouth. I was discharged from the hospital on July 25th and was assigned a home health nurse to assist me with my infusions of TPN
Beginning Wednesday July 28th I'll be starting a new medication called Entyvio in which I will have to be infused with every 2 months for the rest of my life in an attempt to further control my condition.
As you can imagine, this treatment is very expensive and is something that I can not live without. I'm asking for any donations no matter the size to help offset the medical expenses of this treatment.
