Help Kurt Fehrenbach change his life

If you were lucky enough to ski with Kurt Fehrenbach over the last thirty-five years, you know what a wonderful gift he has for teaching he has. Kurt was a PSIA National Team Member, a Verifier for the Ski and Snowboard Schools of Aspen/Snowmass, a mountaineer, and a true friend to all.

Now, Kurt needs our help. Following an injury in 2017, he left skiing and returned to his home in Vermont, where he has been recovering. Now healed, Kurt is looking for the next chapter and has found an opportunity to give back to the community through service in Yoga. You may know that Kurt is not only an amazing ski teacher but also an accomplished and giving yoga teacher. He now has the opportunity to enter into a Work-Study program with a very gifted friend who owns a shala in Guatemala.

I was fortunate enough to meet Doron of DoronYoga at Samahita Retreat in 2015, and since then, he has realized his dream of opening his own yoga center above Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. He is a wonderful and giving individual, you may remember him from our wonderful trip down the Mekong with the boys in Laos.

I am so excited to introduce these two amazing teachers to each other and to help Kurt find a new expression for his purpose and life as he transitions out of skiing and into a new experience as support for the yoga shala in Guatemala.

If you know Kurt, you know he has trouble asking for help. While he was always willing to stay late for clinics, give whole days to students and candidates who needed his help, he hardly ever asked for anything for himself, preferring to give than to receive. It is for this reason that I have asked his permission to start this page on his behalf, and see if we can raise the $450 for the work-study permit, along with a small amount for his travel to the shala (a bit of a project involving a plane, a bus, and a tuk-tuk, but the view makes it SO worth it) and the associated costs with this relocation.

If you can spare $5 to help Kurt change his life, his family and friends, and Kurt himself, thank you heartily.

Just think... at this time next year, you could be booking your ticket to visit Kurt above the pristine lake in Guatemala. For information on the shala, please visit:
