<div>At this time we are asking for funds to pay toward the bills that medicaid didnt retroact(≈$9000) to cover his bills and out of pocket expenses that the insurance does not cover, as well as groceries and necessities while he gets the SSDI figured out.

<div>On Friday evening, Kris was readmitted to University of Michigan Medicine after showing signs of a serious infection. After a series of tests, his team believes that they have identified the specific bacteria and started him on targeted antibiotics today. We’re holding close to the intention that these will help his body clear the infection.
</div>

</div>
<div>In addition to all of that, they discovered blood clots in his pelvic area, and he’s now been placed on blood thinners to help manage and treat them.
</div>

</div>
<div>As a result of everything unfolding, Kris wasn’t able to begin his second round of chemotherapy as originally planned. His doctors are focusing on stabilizing these complications first before resuming treatment, and the goal is to get him back on track as soon as it’s safe.
</div>

<div>It’s been a heavy few days—and to be honest, a little scary—but we’re staying present and keeping faith in the people showing up for him. <div>Update on Kris: He’s Home, and Still Fighting
</div>

<div>Bleary isn’t quite the right word, but it’s the first one that comes to mind. After a long and draining hospital stay, Kris is finally home. He underwent a series of tests to make sure his body wasn't reacting poorly to treatment or medication—and thankfully, all signs pointed to stability.
</div>

</div>
<div>Coming home is both a relief and an adjustment. The nurses and doctors have done an incredible job preparing us for what home care will look like, easing our fears and offering guidance we’ll carry with us every day. Now that he’s in a familiar space, Kris is soaking up some much-needed rest and feeling truly touched by the outpouring of love surrounding him. Every message, prayer, and gesture—seen and unseen—is holding him in warmth.

<div>✨ Silver linings: His appetite remains strong, and he hasn't experienced illness from treatment yet. It’s a quiet but meaningful victory that reflects the strength he’s carrying.

<div>Medical updates have brought a mix of clarity and sobering truths. The the initial diagnosis—he has sarcoma, which has metastasized to his lymphatic system and a small area in his spine. What was corrected is just as important: the oncologist confirmed that Kris has one type of cancer. This means the chemotherapy he began was indeed appropriate, and the team will stay the course with the treatment plan.

<div>However, it also confirmed the tumor’s inoperability due to its aggressive position within and around his pelvic bone. Because of this, the oncology team has chosen a bold path: a rigorous chemotherapy regimen designed to slow the growth, stop the spread, and ideally shrink the mass enough to reassess surgical options down the road.

<div>Moving forward, Kris will receive chemotherapy every two weeks. In the next few days, we’ll learn whether radiation will be added to his treatment plan.
</div>

<div>This isn’t where we hoped to be—but we’re not giving up. The fight is just beginning, and Kris continues to show strength in every step. We’re leaning into gratitude, into each moment of connection and courage, and into the love you’ve all shared so generously. It means more than words can ever express.

<div>Update from the Heart
</div>
<div>We’re currently at University of Michigan Medicine, where he’s been admitted for ongoing evaluation. The team here has been incredibly thorough—they’re re-running several tests and considering repeating the biopsy to ensure nothing has been missed and that we have the clearest path forward.

<div>Right now, we’ve been told he won’t be leaving the hospital until a full treatment plan is confirmed. It’s likely that chemotherapy will begin while he’s still inpatient, which we hope will help stabilize things before we transition back home.

<div>This week has been emotionally and physically exhausting, but we’re holding onto each other—and onto hope—as tightly as we can.

<div>I am setting up this page on behalf of my fiancé, <strong>Kristopher Diaz</strong>. Kris is a great dad to our 12 year old daughter, Abbey. He is a hard worker, often working two jobs. Kris is truly someone that I am thankful to have as a teammate.

<div>On May 19th, he went into the emergency room due to extreme edema or swelling in his left leg for fear of a blood clot.
</div>

<div>Unfortunately, he was admitted for a mass on his left hip. On May 22nd, a biopsy was performed. We have recently gotten confirmation that it is a largesarcoma and is malignant and aggressive cancer.
</div>
<div><strong>It measures at 18 x 15 x 24 centimeters.</strong>
</div>
<div>A sarcoma is a tumor that occurs in bone and soft tissue. <strong>He is scheduled to see the surgeon ASAP but chemotherapy and radiation will be required after. </strong>We still don't have answers on if and how far it has spread.

<div>For those of you that don't know Kris or his history, he is a cancer survivor. At the age of four, he was put into remission from <strong>Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma</strong>. He was even awarded a wish from Make A Wish.

<div>He truly does not deserve to be going through this.
</div>

</div>
<div>He has not been able to return to work to either job since, and we are asking for any donations to help us through these hard times. I have missed some time from work due to the situation and I am looking to keep the household together while also paying for his treatment. <strong>It's going to be a long, hard battle and this is just the beginning.</strong> We are so thankful for all of the support we have received and continue to receive.
