Help Kristi and Edmund Rebuild!

Donation protected
The Tragic events that are described are about internationally collected award  winning artists  Edmund Ian Grant and Kristi Rene  (Johnston) owners of the property at 2411 Soda Canyon Road  Napa CA 94558.  We have lived and worked in the Napa Valley since 1985 and we aquired the Soda Canyon property in 2002, built it from the ground up and lived there for 15 years  until the fateful events of 10/08/2017. We not only lived there but had our studios there , stored all our work there  and used a portion of our  home as a gallery space for open studios. To be clear, we are the ones raising the  funds on GoFundMe for oursleves no one else is doing this for us.  Since our complete inventory and buildings were destroyed the donations we receive will be to help rebuild  or aquire new studios, supplies, equipment, possible gallery space etc. and provide us income that we can not generate due to inventory loss . We will be withdrawing the funds on an as need basis for supplies, equipment,  acquisition of new studio space and income.  For further verification of who we are and what has happened go to Napa Valley Register Story 10/26/2017

As I worked on another painting in my studio on the evening of Oct 8th the lights began a bizarre off and on pattern with intermittent flickering along with a strange ominous wind we never experienced in our 15 years in the  Soda Canyon.  It was 10:20 pm and simultaneously as the power flickered on a phone call came through.  The Caller Id was from a familiar friend, I picked up at the last ring before going to message. It was Mark Ibanez channel 2 KTVU sportscaster, collector and good friend adamantly saying  “Ed your whole Mountain is on fire get out now” my response was “Your kidding “ and Mark said “go look!”  Running up the stairs to the master bedroom, I reached the outside deck and looked westerly to my neighbor’s house and to my dismay saw a river of flames 30 to 40 ft high pouring down the hillside at about 40 miles an hour.  Unbeknownst to us, behind our home, there were flames licking the Hillside towering 200 to 300 feet swirling in the air in a surreal hypnotic diabolical waltz. Our Art Villa at that moment, was surrounded by a blow torch of flames, an island of lush forest we had minutes before our verdant paradise was transformed to a blacken pile of rubble

After what seemed like an eternity, in the dark, power now gone, with flashlight in hand I found our cat under the bed in the master bedroom. After much prodding and with Kristi’s help we trapped the cat and got her and Cody the Chihuahua safely to the Car
There was no time to spare not one work of  art was grabbed there were more than a 1000 works of art and an additional 1000 ceramic sculptures in our home  and studio Villa Spankadllik.  All lost, 30 years of art by Edmund Ian Grant and Kristi Rene lost, our home destroyed and our studio space all gone in an instant. GONE

Many of you have expressed a desire to help in some way.  Our insurance will not cover all of these losses we need your help to rebuild our studio and home.  This is your opportunity to help us rebuild what we have lost.  Any amount will help.  We need to rebuild our home, obtain a new studio and find a place to exhibit our work.  We need to replace all of our equipment and materials so that we can get back to doing the work that we love-- making art.  We are starting from the ground up with your help.  Every donation will go directly into helping restore our artistic lives.  Please do what you can to help. we are grateful for any amount small or large  Please share this page to spread the word.
