Hi, my name is Lora and I am a former resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana. A good friend of mine who is a single mother and was living in Lake Charles during Hurricane Laura, lost her home and nearly all belongings due to hurricane damages in August. And since this all happened during the COVID pandemic and quarantine, it has been very difficult to say the least. Thankfully she and her children and dogs evacuated in time and have been bouncing around between homes of family, friends and FEMA relief hotels. We have taken one of her dogs in during this time to relieve some stress. This dog is a 6-month old Siberian Husky male named Koda with the sweetest heart, beautiful blue eyes and truly he is a fur baby of joy. He has fallen ill during his stay at a foster home I found him up here in Rogers, AR, and is in need of colon surgery. (I have too many animals in my home already and sadly couldn’t foster him myself). He has been to two veterinarians and had x-rays that show he has a blockage and an infection. This dog would die without having the colon surgery. The family has lost almost everything already and is heartbroken to think of losing a dog too. The only offer of financial help we have had was from a local group who would help pay half of medical expenses, but would require this family to relinquish all rights to the dog, and the dog would be re-homed once he is well. Paying half of the expense which would be $2500 and still having to give the baby up was just too much for any of us involved to handle. Please help pay for the emergency exams he has already had, including a barium test, X-rays, and now the required surgery needed to save his life. The family has already been through so much, we just can’t bear the thought of them having to lose him too. Once they are settled back into a rebuilt home, we will return Koda to his family. For now he has urgent medical needs and we are willing to provide receipts for the care he has received And will receive. The foster family also is struggling with a family owned business due to the pandemic, but opened their home to this baby anyway. We hope you’ll join us in assisting this family of hurricane victims. Thank you in advance. Even If you can only give $1, I promise it can help pay for this life saving surgery. Please help us pay it forward and help this family keep their sweet puppy so they can all be reunited soon.
