Help NidNoy--Burned In Wildfires

My name is Dr. Alexandra Matthews. I live in Marin County. I am raising money to help pay vet bills for Nid Noy, my friend Penny’s cat, who miraculously survived the Tubbs fire , but was severely burned.
Penny (legal name Wanpen Dolan) and her husband lived in the Fountain Grove-Crystal Court area of Santa Rosa, one of the areas hardest hit by the inferno. Some of their neighbors perished in the fire . Penny and her husband escaped with the clothes they were wearing and their dog, but were unable to round up their four cats and Penny’s chicken flock.

Miraculously, when an animal rescue searched the ashes of Penny’s house last week, they found 2 cats and 10 chickens that had survived. One of the rescued kitties, NidNoy, was badly burned. She spent a week at VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County but was transferred to UC Davis because she needs a higher level of care. Not only was NidNoy severely burned, but her lungs may be damaged by smoke inhalation. The smoke was terrible and toxic and NidNoy was breathing it for days.
So far, NidNoy’s total vet bills are $3,500 and climbing. We are hoping to raise $5,000 to cover the total cost for NidNoy’s care. (If the amount of money raised is more than the vet bill, the extra money will be donated to the UC Davis Veterinary Catastrophic Need Fund).
I have known Penny since 2010. I felt an instant connection with her because we are both animal lovers. Penny is a well known and much loved member of our community of animal lovers. She has a big heart and a great sense of humor. She is always there to offer advice, support, and comfort to her friends. Now we have the opportunity to do something for Penny during this time of grief and loss.
