[temp. album art above] Recording my official sophomore album, double-sided, with one side, "FAITH", dedicated to some Gospel songs, both original and covers, that sing about the TEACHINGS of Jesus and other figures molded from compassion, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and St. Francis Of Assisi. Simple lessons that America seems to have forgotten, like how to love, how to be compassionate, how to have empathy, how to treat people with respect, how to LEARN (rather than making uninformed statements about addiction and mental health), and on and on.
I haven't been able to afford to record an album since 2015-2018 when I released "Love + Pain" largely with some assistance from my late Father, and I long for the ability to record music again. He would not recognize this current America, and he would be ashamed we have sunk this low. I feel it's my duty to speak out, and sadly those with the most resources DO NOT do so (Zuck, Musk, Bezos, etc.)... this will be my therapy, and hopefully therapy for those I'm close to and for the country as a whole. $10,000 will not allow me to record a full album, but it will get me started. The "B" side will be unfinished and unreleased tracks from the last few years. These will lean both secular and non-secular, but rather than sitting on my hard drive, the work that has gone into them needs to be finished and released to the world.
WHAT IS FAITH?
In this modern era of Christian Nationalism and the Fundamentalist arm of the church taking hold, the real meaning of faith has seemed to be forgotten. Faith in it's traditional form means "faith" that there is a God and faith that there is place for you beyond this world when you die.
I don't believe the definition of faith ends there.
I personally don't believe in the Judeo-Christian version of God (bearded man on cloud controlling everything with puppet strings) nor do I believe that Jesus as the bible depicts him performed every miracle that we read about. I DO believe in a power higher than ourselves and that the bible and multiple other religious texts have valuable lessons to teach, I have FAITH that there is a power higher than ourselves, and that our purpose for being on earth is to better the lives of those around us, to be kind to strangers, to love and be loved. With each act of goodness, we are essentially replenishing our bag of goodwill... we will make mistakes, we will hurt people, and when that happens goodwill will be taken from us. But when it is, we will learn and do better the next time, thus continuing the process of gaining goodwill with the universe.
I want this album to be more than just an album. I want it to be a STATEMENT. That good will triumph over evil.

THE COST
Bear in mind that these are approximations. Those of you that know me know that I don't want to put anything into the world with my name on it that does not sound professional and radio-ready.
RECORDING STUDIO TIME - $2000/week (a full album will need multiple weeks)
MIXING - $350/day (one day per song)
MASTERING - $50/song (this matches the volume of each track with the others on the same album, as well as with what is currently playing on popular radio in all genres)
MUSICIANS - $250/session (usually 1-2 songs)... this includes bass, drums, additional vocalists. Obviously I will be handling piano/keyboards/lead and background vocals (with the exception of some songs where the lead vocal is out of my range)
PRINTING/DUPLICATION/MARKETING - $2500-5000
So as you can see, a full album done correctly can easily surpass $25,000. I'm not asking for that. Just enough to get started.
To give you a frame of reference, Max Martin, who has the most #1's in history charges $100,000 per song (that's just for producing and songwriting, not counting studio time, mixing, musicians or anything else). It is common for major label albums today to cross the $1M threshold.
