<div>We are Richard and Diane, parents of Kimberly. As some of you already know, our beautiful, energetic, and happy daughter, Kimmy, and her husband Rob embarked on their newlywed journey several years ago, full of hopes and dreams.

<div>Instead they became trapped in a nightmare no young newlyweds should have to face. Shortly after moving into their apartment, their joy was overshadowed by a mysterious illness that began to steal Kimmy's vitality. Fatigue, vision disturbances, severe reactions to food and medications, gastrointestinal issues, constant coughing, debilitating rashes, and mental decline became her daily reality. For 5 agonizing years, they sought answers, visiting specialist after specialist, as Kimmy's health continued to deteriorate.

<div>Finally, a naturopathic doctor provided a crucial diagnosis: mold illness, stemming from toxic black mold and other harmful molds within their apartment building. This wasn't just an allergy; the mold toxins had infiltrated Kimmy's body, triggering a cascade of health issues including Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Histamine Intolerance, and liver disease. Her illness became so severe that she had to quit her job and could no longer perform basic tasks, leaving her unable to contribute to the shared life she and Rob had planned.

<div>Fatigue is a big symptom of mold illness and she typically ends up falling asleep while in the middle of something.

<div>Frequent pain in her stomach and pelvis requires the use of the heating pad as she reacts negatively to all medications. Swollen belly as the body holds onto excess weight while living in mold, and it's very difficult to lose. Hundreds of skin colored bumps all over her upper and lower back that were not there until she moved into the toxic mold. ☹️

<div>Witnessing Kimmy's suffering and Rob’s unwavering support as her full-time caregiver while desperately searching for a safe home has been heartbreaking. For the past 2 years since her disgnosis, the four of us had been dedicated to finding a mold-free environment for her to recover in. Sadly, every home they tested, including our home and her in-laws' home, showed signs of mold, preventing them from finding a temporary haven with family. The search became increasingly challenging and expensive, as testing for mold in each home cost hundreds—sometimes over $1,000—just to test. Every home tested had a toxic mold issue. This is a shockingly common issue in housing that not many people know or talk about.

<div>Finding an affordable, suitable option in California proved impossible, but through incredible effort and sacrifice, they recently moved into a beautiful, healthy home in Buckeye, Arizona. This monumental step has required every penny they had saved, a generous donation from Kimmy’s aunts and uncle on her father’s side, and a significant portion of our retirement savings. Tragically, though, due to the nature of mold contamination, they were advised that nearly everything they owned—all of their furniture, electronics, precious books, photos, artwork, small appliances, collectables, and anything porous that cannot withstand a rigorous mold remediation process—had to be discarded. That meant starting their new life in a safe home almost entirely from scratch. Everything that they had built together during 7 years of marriage was gone.

<div>Unfortunately, getting safely out of a mold contaminated environment and shedding mold-contaminated belongings is only the first step to recovery. Kimmy’s body still contains mold and mold toxins, and as long as that is the case, she will not be able to fully heal. Treatment for mold illness and the many comorbidities it creates is specialized, lengthy, massively expensive, and basically never covered by health insurance. These treatments could not even begin until Kimmy was in a safe environment, but now that she is, she and Rob are struggling to cover the costs of treatment.

<div>We are humbly asking for support to aid Kimmy and Rob in rebuilding their lives by helping them get through Kimmy’s treatment. The goal is to raise $25,000 to help them cover the costs of medical visits, labs, lab analyses, supplements, equipment (including dehumidifiers, air purifiers, etc.), programs/courses/educational materials, and other essentials that will help her detox and regain her life.

<div>For at least 5 years, Kimmy hasn't been anywhere except our house and the multitude of doctors, and always masked, due to her weakened immune system from the mold illness. Often the phlebotomist has a hard time finding a good vein.

<div>Her poor arms are constantly inflamed, as are other parts of her body. Itchy rashes pop up randomly on her arms, neck, behind her ears, and on her face.

<div>Wearing blue light blocking glasses constantly has helped with her vision problems from the mold, including the ocular migraines. Her eyes are constantly dry and inflamed.

<div>We hope and we pray every single day that our Kimmy will one day be able to do all the things she so loved doing--macrame, crafting, jigsaw puzzles, going out to dinner or a movie, and traveling to her favorite place -- Cambria and Moonstone Beach.

<div>We are so thankful for our son-in-law, Rob, who does so much to care for Kimmy. He has worked so hard to support them both while finding her a place where she can heal. We want nothing more than for her and Rob to finally be able to enjoy their life together.
