Help Kim Wolf Beat Breast Cancer

Donation protected
About two weeks ago, my great friend Kim Wolf let us know that she had developed advanced breast cancer.  No matter what, this news is devastating but Kim has since been courageous -- meeting with excellent doctors, undergoing scans and tests, and planning for the next phase that will include a minimum of five months of chemotherapy followed by a difficult surgery and then tons of follow-up appointments. She's optimistic and so am I but I am also trying to figure out what I can do to help support her.  You are likely thinking the same thing.

Don't know Kim? You should. She is a dynamite person who has spent her career helping others and advocating for the most at-risk people and their pets. In Brooklyn she created an initiative called Beyond Breed where she literally took to the streets with a specially rigged bicycle and peddled to the most underserved communities delivering pet food and supplies.  Yup -- that was her!  She along with her dear roommates (dogs Snickers and Cappy, and cat, Miss Kitty), have been a voice for the most vulnerable. It's no surprise to me that in August she returned to school to get her Masters in Social Work in Athens Georgia.

Now in graduate school, Kim has health insurance as long as she remains a full-time student. That means a lot of her medical bills should be covered once she meets her deductible –and  these bills are already piling up. We all know that there are other costs that add up quickly and without the money, it will be scary and add even more stress to a challenging time. That's where I think and hope we can step up and help.  I've set up this Go Fund Me for Kim to reduce her fear during this year and cover some of these expenses.  Large ticket items include helping her meet her insurance deductible (including the actual tests that led to the diagnosis, the staging, the insertion of a port!) and of course the little things too.  Wouldn't it be great for us to join her and support her with things like covering the cost for pet boarding and dog walking, transportation to and from the five months of chemotherapy, and other things that will make her more comfortable and add peace of mind to her life:  comfortable socks, a P.O. Box so she can get fan mail, and the joys of life that she would likely put off because she doesn't have the funds.  Let's make sure that she doesn't have to worry.

Kim has been there as a friend, colleague, advocate, and leader.  If we can raise this money it will not only be a relief for her-- I think it will encourage her to keep up this fight.  By doing this we can also be part of her recovery.  And, if we've raised too much money that she doesn't need, the funds will go to support others with cancer and to breast cancer research.  No contribution is too small and your gift will not go unnoticed.  In fact, you will likely get notes from the both of us.

Thank you for supporting Kim and being there for her.
