Memorial for Doug Hammons

Donation protected

Kim Hammons has been a long-time Parent Advocate while also dealing with having two children with very intense special needs. She always jumps in to help when one of our own needs it! This time SHE is the one that needs OUR help! Her beloved husband of 23 years, Doug suffered a major stroke on June 9th, leaving him on life support. He was placed on Hospice recently. I am sorry to say that Doug passed away on July 16 in his wife's arms. They have no life insurance. They need help with his funeral expenses and other costs as they try to live life without Doug. We need your help to support her in her time of need!

Kim is navigating this devastating blow without her ROCK and the main breadwinner for their home!

Those who know her have followed her updates on her 19-year-old daughter Bailey who is dealing with a terminal disease. Things have been touch and go for Bailey even more in the last year. We have prayed for her all the way. Kim has had to quit her job to drive Bailey to surgeon visits and wound care several times a week since last Halloween as she dealt with the Sepsis that almost took her life. Bailey continues to fight and still attends her classes at USF to reach her dream of obtaining her college degree!

She is also providing all the care giving for their 22-year-old son, Ethan, who lives with severe autism and a cancer disease. Ethan is having an incredibly difficult and heart breaking reaction to his father’s illness. He is crying all the time for the Dad who was always there being his primary caregiver and best friend.

Kim is trying to be everything for each of the kids and meet their needs, often dismissing her own. The idea of this campaign is to ease at least part of the burden that Kim is carrying with what strength she has left. They are without income right now, and as we know, the bills never stop coming!

ANY donation, no matter the size will go a long way, it all adds up! In our community, we realize the strength in numbers. Please consider donating to ease the stress on this family in their time of need. I know Kim would not hesitate to do it for any of us! In watching this unfold via Kim’s frequent updates, many of her virtual family from across the country have voiced that they would love to do something to help, but the distance limits what they can do. This is something you can do! If you can’t donate now, PLEASE SHARE this campaign with your friends hoping that others will feel compelled to help. As we come together to help one another, we can move mountains! She needs our help NOW!
