<div>My mother has been living with heart failure for 30 years. For most of that time, she’s fought with strength, grace, and quiet determination. But this past year has changed everything. Since the start of 2024, my mom has been hospitalized ten times and has spent months in the ICU. From November through March, she required 24-hour care, and she moved in with me so I could help her manage even the most basic parts of daily life.

<div>Now, she faces her greatest challenge yet: traveling from New Orleans to Nashville for a heart transplant, where her odds of receiving a new heart are much higher. The financial burden is overwhelming. She must have significant savings just to be approved for the transplant, and time is running out. The longer she waits, the greater the risk to her health. She’s been on the transplant list for months, but setbacks have kept her in an inactive status for much of that time.

<div>On top of the medical expenses, my mom will need to cover housing, aftercare, and costly medications while she’s away from home. Her fiancé will be by her side around the clock, and I’ll be traveling back and forth as much as possible, balancing care for my three children. Friends and family are also stepping in to help, but we need support for travel costs and maintaining an extra bedroom for caregivers. Every contribution will go directly toward her medical bills, housing, medications, and the support network she needs during this critical time.
