Help Kim during her Cancer Recurrence

 

Hello everyone. I am hoping you can help me raise money for Kim Price who is a long time friend of mine. As long as I’ve known Kimmy, she has been a selfless human being, who has always supported her family and friends. Her positive attitude and outgoing personality always shines.

 

In May 2020, Kim was in and out of emergency  with what she thought was a kidney infection.  She had difficulty moving so within 4 weeks of going back and forth  to drs, emergency, ultrasound she was diagnosed with ovarian  cancer Clear Cell Carcinoma  stage 2B.

In June she had surgery to remove a 17x14cm cancer tumour including the removal of her reproductive  system gone. This lead to immediate menopause. Weeks later she found it spread to her pelvis and tailbone. Kim  underwent chemotherapy using drugs Carboplatin  and Taxol. Kim experienced hair loss along with nausea and extreme fatigue.

After chemotherapy, radiation followed and she completed treatment on November 24, 2020. Kim took three months for her body to recuperate after there after I rested before returning to work.

In February  2021, Kim returned to work then began working out. She attended her regular blood work and scans with everything looking great.  

In September, 2021, Kim’s legs started to swell where they felt like someone tied a rope around them but they also were little warm. She attended the ER on SEPT 19th 2021 where they found a blood clot in my left leg.  A few days later the hematologist  told Kim it may be a sign of reoccurrence. However, said all her scans look great so Kim continued working while receiving blood thinners.

In October, her breathing became difficult and her belly distended. Kim wasn’t eating, was nauseated  although she kept thinking it was the blood clot.

Finally November  18, 2021, Kim went to the ER to discover the blood clot traveled to her lungs( had 3 clots there). She was also told her cancer was now stage 3 as it returned in her abdominal  wall. This was building toxic  ascites where they drained 5 liters from her belly.

Kim started chemo December  6,  2021 and is taking Carboplatin and Caelyx. From here, she receives 6 cycles. This is will be accessed as time goes on.  No radiation will be done this time as they say it's too dangerous. She is now on Fragmin for the blood clots.  

 

If you know Kim, she is strong, determined and stubborn as hell. Her positivity and daily mantra have been evident throughout her cancer journey.

 

During the first diagnosis, Kim had recently began a new job so did not have any sick leave or short term disability. So she quietly struggled financially, as she did not want to accept help from others. All the while, her body experienced many changes and side effects of treatment. Again Kim is off work with no other financial support. 

 

This fundraiser is to help pay for her rent, bills and food. She lives alone so there is no one else to ease the cost of living.
