Your support helps Khan Academy Uzbek localize Khan Academy’s expert materials into Uzbek.

The mission of Khan Academy is Free Education for Everybody, Anywhere and Forever. The platform includes tutorials from over 30 disciplines that in general consist of over 9 thousand micro-lectures and 40 thousand practical exercises.

Funding is needed to translate all educational materials and re-create videos in Uzbek. We not only localize the materials, but we also work to increase awareness and adoption so that Uzbek-speaking children and youth have access to these free learning resources.

According to the Committee of Statistics, there are 9.5 thousand schools in Uzbekistan with over 4.5 million children involved. A known fact is that most of the kids outside of major cities do not have access to quality education. This is mainly due to the lack of teachers, books and educational materials in the Uzbek language. As a result, as also reported by UNESCO, only 1 out of 10 school graduates get university admission.


Online education is getting more popular because of its efficiency and easiness to use. We strongly believe that Uzbekistan needs a certain leapfrog development in the education system and that could be achieved via accessible online education.

Khan Academy Uzbek will provide FREE educational materials to over 7.4 mln Uzbek-speaking children and youth not only in Uzbekistan but also in neighbor countries - Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

The project management, control and monitoring will be implemented by Uzbekistan's first private NGO "Bilim Onlayn". Your support helps NGO “Bilim Onlayn” localize Khan Academy’s expert materials into
Uzbek.

The mission of the project is:

·         To empower Uzbek children to reach their full potential;


·         To create Massive Open Online Courses in the Uzbek language and to make them accessible for the Uzbek-speaking audience;


·         To make free, quality knowledge available for a large number of students across the country;


·         To provide a learning opportunity for low-income families to have access to quality education.


·         To empower Uzbek girls through education.



Currently, we have over 90 translators working on the project part-time and finished the translation of 2.5 million words in the 6 months. We have already re-created 350 videos and we are actively working on creating new ones.

To have Khan Academy in Uzbek, we need to translate 5.5 million words and re-create 9,000 short educational videos. With your help, Khan Academy Uzbek will reach the goal of raising $500,000 to create world-class free educational resources to millions of learners speaking in the Uzbek language.
