<div>Runcie is a patient advocate and researcher. For over 10 years, he has passionately dedicated his life to being the voice for better cancer care through a charity known as Project PINK BLUE (<a href="https://www.projectpinkblue.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.projectpinkblue.org</a>). Blossom has been a leader in creativity and digital media innovation for over 17 years. She is the Deputy Manager, Digital Engagement &amp; Social Media Coordinator at NNPC Limited and the founding curator of the Igbo Wikimedia User Group.

<div>Runcie and Blossom’s birthdays are on the 26th of December, a day after Christmas. While it’s typically a time for celebrations and gifts, this year, we are asking for something different. Instead of gifts, we are appealing to you to <strong>HELP us raise N6,460,000 ($3,800) for two amazing ladies battling BREAST CANCER: Khadija and Salome.</strong> Every single naira or dollar raised will go directly towards their treatments. Now, let us tell you their stories:

<div><strong>Mrs. Khadija Adeniyi Braimoh is a single parent of two, a trader, and lives in Lagos.</strong>
</div>
<div>One morning in late February 2024, Khadija Braimoh’s world was turned upside down. As she went about her routine, she noticed a lump in her breast. Alarmed but determined, she acted immediately, visiting Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) the very next day. While initial tests didn’t reveal anything conclusive, her symptoms—including bloody discharge from the breast and persistent pain—couldn’t be ignored. Further investigations led to a lump excision, and the diagnosis she had feared became a reality: breast cancer.

<div>Her doctors recommended chemotherapy, and she started immediately. She had eight cycles and had her last chemotherapy treatment on November 15, 2024. Yet, her battle isn’t over. Her doctors have urgently recommended a mastectomy (removal of her breasts), followed by additional chemotherapy and radiotherapy, to give her the best chance at survival. For Khadija to proceed with her surgery, she will need about N1,000,000 and extra funds for medications, radiotherapy, and other medical bills. Unfortunately, since November 15, Khadija and her family have not been able to raise funds.

<div><strong>Mrs. Salome Titus, 42, is a fashion designer, mother of three, and from Akwa Ibom state.</strong>
</div>
<div>In September 2024, Salome began experiencing sharp and severe back pain and a breast lump. She visited the health center, which referred her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). The doctors conducted tests and radiological investigations, including a mammogram, ultrasound, and tru-cut biopsy of the left breast. Her results came out on November 4, 2024, and showed that she had an Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, NST, SBR, grade 2.

<div>Salome was supposed to start her treatment immediately; however, due to financial constraints, she has yet to begin her treatment. The cancer has been left untreated, placing her life at greater risk each day. She has been prescribed further tests and treatment options, but without funds, these critical steps remain out of reach. She has another appointment on January 14, and without funds, she cannot make it.

<div>During Khadija’s chemotherapy session, she spent N480,000 for four cycles, N203,000 for the fifth cycle, and N269,000 for the sixth, seventh, and eighth cycles; a total of N1,490,000 (i.e., $876.47). She was only able to fund this treatment through the help of her friends. Similarly, Salome has spent over N300,000 with the help of her husband, who is a clergy of a local church in their community. They need our help.
