<div>Kevin literally walked into my home (and my heart) six years ago out of the blue. Back then, I wasn’t even a fan of cats — I had already rescued one from my workplace and was doing everything I could to rehome him.
</div>

<div>After a short foster attempt where they ended up losing him over Christmas, I woke up every morning at 5am for a month to search the neighborhood. Against all odds, I found him again. It was a stressful and painful time, but also a miracle. I promised the universe that if I got him back, I’d never let him go — and I haven’t.

<div>Kevin’s Health Journey
</div>
<div>Because of his stray days, Kevin contracted FIV (a common cat virus that weakens the immune system). For years, we managed it well — even after he developed urinary crystals.
</div>

</div>
<div>Just two months ago, Kevin had major dental work and lost almost all his molars and premolars, meaning he can now only eat wet food. The stress on his system caused anemia and new food allergies.
</div>

</div>
<div>This past Friday, I noticed Kevin’s breathing was labored, he wasn’t eating, and his gums were pale (a sign his organs weren’t getting enough oxygen). At the vet, imaging revealed a 3-inch mass on his spleen — the cause of his anemia.

<div>Surgery is possible, but because of his FIV and anemia, anesthesia is very risky. I couldn’t take the chance that day. I brought him home, hoping to get him stronger for surgery.
</div>

<div>Why I’m Asking for Help
</div>
<div>I already lost my dog of 17 years this July. I can’t bear the thought of losing Kevin, too. He is my soul cat. It may sound silly, but nobody — human or animal — grounds me like Kevin does.
</div>

<div>Kevin has pet insurance, but even with that, the cost of his surgery and recovery is overwhelming. If you know me, you know how much I love my pets. They are my children. Some may not agree, but I hope your love and respect for me will move you to help my baby boy in this time of need. Surgery costs around $2500. With additional imaging, medications, after care and follow ups the costs will add up quickly.
