<div>I never thought I’d have to write this, but my husband Kevin Hyde needs your help. In 2023, Kevin was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called <strong>epithelioid</strong> <strong>sarcoma</strong>. By 2024, it had progressed to stage 4.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kevin first had symptoms in 2018, but misdiagnoses and delays during the Covid pandemic meant treatment was postponed. By the time we got a clear diagnosis, the cancer had already advanced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, Kevin has fought hard through:

<li>Two rounds of radiotherapy

</ul>

<ul>
<li>Major surgery
</li>
</ul>

<li>Six cycles of chemotherapy (each requiring hospital stays)

</div>
<div>Sadly, the chemotherapy hasn’t worked, and the cancer has spread to his spine and some muscles in his back and leg — causing ongoing pain. Thankfully, it’s not affecting his mobility yet, and we’re hopeful more radiotherapy will be offered to help with the pain.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Why We Need Your Help</strong>
</div>
<div>Genetic testing has shown Kevin’s cancer has specific mutations that may respond well to <strong>targeted treatments and</strong> <strong>immunotherapy</strong>. These personalized therapies aren’t yet approved in the UK for his cancer. Kevin’s oncologist applied for compassionate access to an EZH2 inhibitor from a drug company, but this request was unfortunately rejected. We are now hoping that the NHS will support other immunotherapy options that might slow the cancer's progression.

<div>If this access isn’t granted, we may need to explore private funding options to get the therapies kevin needs — which could be very costly. Additionally, further chemotherapy might also be necessary.
</div>

<div><strong>Treatments being pursued:</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>EZH2 inhibitors</strong> (targeting SMARCB1/INI1 gene) <em>This is no longer an option as compassionate access has been rejected and its not available in the UK.</em>
</div>

<div><strong>CDK4/6 inhibitors</strong> (targeting CDKN2A gene)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>MEK inhibitors</strong> (targeting NF1 gene)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Checkpoint inhibitors</strong> (immunotherapy) to boost the immune response
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Supportive Therapies Helping Kevin’s Body</strong>
</div>
<div>Alongside medical treatments, Kevin is doing everything to stay strong and give treatments the best chance:
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Dendritic cell vaccine therapy (Germany):</strong> A personalized immunotherapy that trains his immune system to attack cancer cells. At this time, Kevin will not proceed with this treatment until we have more updates on the access to immunotherapy drugs. Estimated cost if pursued: £35,000.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Oxygen + infrared therapy: </strong>Helps reduce inflammation and supports healing. Estimated at £50 per session, twice a week for 3 months = £1,200.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>High-dose Vitamin C infusions with regular blood tests :</strong> Supports immune health and reduces inflammation. Vit C infusion £200 approx per session, twice a week for 3 months (4,800). Blood tests for G6PD monitoring to ensure safe treatment,  cost £150 per test monthly (£450). Total estimated cost: £5,250.

<div><strong>Supplements and ketogenic diet: </strong>To support immune function and potentially slow cancer growth = £800

<div>Since kevin is pausing the dendritic cell vaccine therapy for now, the target focuses on immediate supportive therapies, blood tests, travel, and other costs for the next three months.
</div>

</div>
<div>Kevin and I will contribute as much as we can, but we can’t cover all of it. We hope to raise enough to give Kevin more time — more time with family, friends, and the life he loves.
</div>
<div>Once we get an update on the immunotherapy access, we will update this campaign.
