Bonjour! Je m'appelle Kerry!
Those who know me know that I love the French language and culture. I have always been interested in them but my appreciation has grown immensely over the years. In high school, I had the wonderful opportunities of traveling to France on three different occassions to volunteer at English summer camps for French teenagers. France and its people definitely have a special place in my heart.
Currently, I am a sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University studying International Relations and French. My career goal after graduation is to work with NGOs and non-profits for causes that I am passionate about.
This summer, I have the opportunity through my school to study abroad in Caen (a city in Normandy), France for the month of June. During my stay, I will be living with a French family while attending classes at the local university. In the afternoons, I will get the chance to experience the city of Caen and develop relationships with the local people.
For this trip, my major expenses are as follows:
- Tution & Fees: $1550
- Program Cost: $1990
- Airfare: $1000 (estimated)
For the past five months, I have been working at Starbucks part-time while also attending school full-time. Unfortunately, working part-time does not allow me to cover all of the expenses by myself. This is why I am reaching out for a little help. I believe that studying abroad will not only help me in my education, but also in my future career as well. In addition, this trip will also help me to become more fluent in the language because I will not be allowed to speak English during the entire trip!
