On June 4th 2025, my husband Kenny Bonner suffered a stroke that completely changed our lives. He has been a truck driver with US Sand and Gravel for the last 4 years, right up until the day of his stroke. He has always been a hard working man, but now he is facing the biggest challenge of his life: recovery.
As a result of the stroke, Kenny has lost movement on the entire left side of his body as well as vision in his left eye. He is now working hard in rehab to regain as much function as possible.
I've created this fundraiser to help with our bills and basic needs while Kenny continues his rehab and we try to keep our family strong during this storm.
About Our Family
We have 2 boys, Sekai (15) and Hakim (14). Sekai is going into 10th grade and plays tennis. Hakim is starting 9th grade, plays football, and also plays trumpet in the school band. They are doing their best to stay strong but this has been intense for all of us.
Kenny also has 3 adult children who are hoping, praying, and rooting for his recovery.
Why We Need Help
Since his stroke, Kenny has been in a rehab facility, where he is working hard to regain his strength.
Meanwhile, I'm doing my best to hold things together, doing delivery/gig work like Doordash to keep us afloat. The flexibility is a huge help and I certainly have good days and good weeks...but there's no paid leave, no safety net, and income can be unpredictable. Most days, I'm torn between the need to work and the need to be by Kenny's side, and both are critical.
I've applied for many different programs like SSI, early retirement, and other aid programs, but most will take quite a bit of time to approve and process. In the near future, I hope to be able to return to school in the spring and eventually get a more "sturdy" job but all of that still depends on a lot of variables in the near future.
Right now, we just need a little room to breathe as we navigate the next few weeks.
How You Can Help
If you're able to donate it would truly mean the world to us. And even if you can't, a share and a prayer is also very needed and appreciated.
We are incredibly grateful for the support we've received over the last month. I've worked very hard to do everything I can and our family has been incredible. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart
