Help Ken DeVault stand on two feet!

Donation protected
Ken DeVault, also known as Beef, BJ, Devo, or just ‘B’ desperately needs your help and prayers. Ken suffered a small injury in October 2017 that involved the two toes on his left foot.  Being severely diabetic, the injury did not heal, but progressed through 12 surgeries, to eventually claim all his left leg just below the knee.  While hospitalized he suffered a heart attack and consequent blood build-up in his eyes that is still undergoing treatments to correct.
Ken’s active lifestyle is at a standstill.  A diesel mechanic for over 30 years, he has spent the last 20 years repairing Springfield and Rochester school buses.  Ken continued to work through December 2017, in spite of his injury and ongoing treatments. Being hospitalized multiple times over months of fighting the progressive loss of his toes, foot, and now leg, he lost his employment and consequently his insurance.
Over the years, Ken has been an avid outdoorsman, volunteer, Mason, and devoted family man.  A passion for duck hunting, Ken has served the Tri-County Ducks Unlimited as active member, committee member.  As a life-long Harley rider, Ken has participated in ABATE Runs and Rallies, Toys for Tots, multiple fund-raising poker runs, and volunteered for over ten years at the Springfield Mile Race, as parking coordinator.  His devotion to family led Ken to become Director of the local BMX track and Commissioner of the National Bicycle League of Illinois.  Passing on the love of duck hunting and fishing to his kids and grandkids is obvious. They are as passionate about them as Ken.
The current situation is this.  Out of work since December, unemployment benefits are only available to those who can actively apply for work.  That is hard to do when you have a vacuum pump attached to your foot or leg. Social Security has denied his initial Disability application.  He is appealing at this time.  The medical bills started with one for $159,000 and there are more surgeries to come. Ken has been added to his wife’s insurance policy (an additional $500 premium per month).   And now, the insurance has denied the purchase of a prosthesis, stating it is “cosmetic” and not necessary.  Really???
If you can help, it would be so appreciated.  There are copays, deductibles, procedures, and future surgeries that are staggering. Most of all, a prosthetic leg would get Ken back on his feet and back into living a productive life.
Please help fulfill Ken’s wish “and having done all, to stand.”  Ephesians 6:13
