Ken and Cathy have prevailed through numerous obstacles during their almost 15yr long relationship. They've been parents and grandparents, hard workers as well as financial and emotional supporters for their family and friends. They live very practically and will alway opt for a roadtrip over investing into material possesions.
Unfortunately, a couple weeks before this past Thanksgiving, Ken went to see his physician over some neck pain. After a few back and forths, Ken had been diagnosed with stage IV Squamous Cancer. A proud 10 year Air Force veteran, Ken will be undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment for the next few months.
Thankfully, some of the medical expenses will be covered through the VA. However, this will reduce them to a one income family, an income that will be greatly impacted as Cathy will need to be available to support and assist Ken through his recovery. Cathy's income will be stretched beyond it's limits to support the house payments, transportation, utilities, grocery, car maintenance, a 17yr old girl in high school and many other medically associated requirments that will not be covered by insurance.
Just being who they are, both Ken and Cathy have been hesitant to ask for help themselves, but it's clear they need a team of loved ones behind them during this journey. They are preparing for the most emotional and physically challenging year of their lives, not to mention how mentally taxing this can and will be.
This fund is to allow them to focus on their recovery and to do our best to reduce the stress of losing everything that they have both worked so hard for their entire lives.
