Help Kelly Fight Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer

Kelly has always been a health-conscious and active woman who made it a point to do her monthly self breast exams. One morning, she felt something in her left breast that was different from before. She made an appointment with her primary care doctor to have it checked out. Her doctor didn’t seem to think she felt anything off, but Kelly pushed to have a mammogram done to make sure. Kelly’s mammogram and additional testing revealed a softball size mass in her breast which had spread to her left axillary lymph nodes, her liver, and her right humorous bone which started her fight against stage 4 metastatic breast cancer at only 31 years old. Through her oncology teams at Geisinger CMC and Sloan Kettering in NJ, Kelly found out that her breast cancer was estrogen and progesterone positive and HER2-, which is one of the more responsive types of breast cancer. Kelly began her chemotherapy treatment, which she was responding well to, while going for PET scans and other testing to ensure the treatment continued to work. Kelly has undergone multiple surgeries, including one to remove her ovaries and some of her lymph nodes. The recovery process has been difficult as she experiences sleepless nights, constant pain, swelling, bone pain, nausea, and muscle spasms, but she remained positive and has continued to work her job as a speech pathologist. Her most recent PET scan revealed cancer in her lymph node again. She underwent yet another surgery to remove her lymph node and have testing done on the removed node. Testing revealed that Kelly now had another form of breast cancer- triple negative breast cancer- which is the most aggressive and hardest to treat. Kelly has still remained positive and continues to fight with everything she has. She is currently undergoing 28 days of radiation treatment on the area of the removed cancerous lymph node.

Kelly is one of the strongest, most loving, genuine, and selfless people we know and over the past almost 3 years, her fight against her breast cancers has created a very burdensome financial struggle for her. Kelly has done absolutely everything for the people she loves and cares about in her life without ever expecting anything in return. Kelly continues to work to keep her health insurance to help cover some of the costs, but her bills for treatment and medication, as well as bills for herself and her home have become impossible to keep up with. We are hoping to raise some money to help ease the financial stress on her and allow her mind to stay focused on what matters most- fighting for her life.

All of the money raised will go directly to Kelly. The funds will be used to help pay for her treatments and medications, travel to and from her appointments for treatment and follow-up care, her groceries, her oil for her heat this winter, and any other bills for her or her home.
