Help Keep the Conlins in a Home.

I have been unemployed and unable to return to the work force since losing my job in July of 2020. I suffer from both physical—pain and reduced use of both hands after surgery in October 2020—and mental/emotional issues—cPTSD, anxiety, depression, etc.—that have become extremely limiting. I've applied for disability, but that can take years and I am unable to collect unemployment because I am unable to work. No one wants to hire a person that has an emotional breakdown during their interview. I've tried making money through making maps and making role-playing game adventures, but that is slow going. My wife, Karen, is an editor for indie writers, but work has been touch and go.

After months of struggling along, we attempted to sell the house we were living in and move to Karen's family home, which she inherited in 2019, to live with our daughter who has been staying there. Unfortunately, the buyers backed out 2 weeks before closing leaving us in a lurch. We are now preparing to surrender my house in WI to the mortgage company since the mortgage is upside down (we owe more than the house is worth) and it would be impossible for someone to get a mortgage on it.

We thought this would be the worst part and that we could move on from there, but fate isn't done with us. We've depleted all of our funds staying afloat and moving houses only to be notified of the insurance and property taxes coming due. If we don't find a way to cover at least the property taxes, the county has already stated they will evict us and sell the property. This is just too much for us to handle by ourselves so we're asking for help to get us over this hurdle and give us a chance to get back on our feet. The $10,000 will cover the insurance, the property taxes, and cover a few bills from the move. If we raise any funds beyond our ask, they will be used to address my medical bills and other debts we have.
