Help Keep The Avenue Pub Alive

The Avenue Pub has been a staple in the Rochester LGBTQ+ community since 1975. It paved the way and opened the door for all other bars of it’s kind that followed. In the 45 years since it’s inception, The Avenue Pub has adopted a very “Cheers”-esque, family-like environment and his considered by countless patrons to be like a second home. Originally owned and operated by the late Gary Sweet, his daughters took over the reins after he passed. Since then, Tanya has worked tirelessly hard to not only keep her father’s legacy alive, but the home to so many of its regulars that have developed their own sense of family inside. Unfortunately, amidst a global pandemic, it’s been increasingly difficult to keep the bar afloat while businesses are shut down and with the very likely possibility of moving into Red Zone, it may become nearly impossible to keep this Rochester landmark in business. It is with this foreboding, financially-devastating prospect that this GoFundMe is born. It is asked with abundant love and appreciation that you donate any amount you can to help Tanya keep The Avenue Pub alive. We owe it to her, to the late Gary Sweet and to ourselves, the community that would suffer a devastating loss without it.
