At FOR WOMEN CIC, we are dedicated to empowering and supporting women in our community. As a community interest company, our mission is to create safe, nurturing environments where women can come together, access vital services, and find the strength to overcome life’s challenges. We believe in the power of connection, and for many, our Women’s Hub is a lifeline, offering much-needed support in a world where women often feel unheard or alone.
Mental health and wellbeing are crucial for everyone, regardless of gender. Women, can face significant challenges related to mental health, including issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. Additionally, women often have multiple roles and responsibilities, such as caregiving, work, and managing households, which can contribute to feelings of isolation and loneliness.
It's also important to recognise the intersectionality of women's experiences and how factors like race, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation can impact mental health and experiences of isolation. By addressing these complex issues and promoting inclusive and supportive environments, we can work towards improving the mental health and wellbeing of women everywhere while tackling issues of isolation and loneliness.
For these reasons our idea of offering a Women’s Hub.
The Women’s Hub was created with a clear purpose: to provide a space where women can come as they are, free from judgment, and access the support they need. Whether it's emotional, mental, or social support, our goal is to create a community that helps women thrive. We offer a place for women to seek advice, build connections, and regain confidence in themselves. The hub also provides access to crucial resources, workshops, and services designed to help women facing various challenges—whether it's domestic issues, isolation, or mental health struggles.
By fostering a sense of belonging and solidarity, we aim to empower women to take charge of their lives and futures. However, none of this is possible without the support of the community.
How it operates- On 16th September 2024 we have started offering a weekly women’s Hub in Westminster at Victoria Library. Our intention is to keep it running as a permanent activity with the hope we can offer the same in other Boroughs in London. The Hub will be running every Monday from 11am to 3.30pm. It is for all women over 18 from any background, religion, and culture. No need to book as it’s a walk-in service.
A variety of sessions available every week: community café’, self-care talks, mindful arts and crafts, peer to peer talking group and stretching/breathing exercises. The information, guidance and advice service (signposting) are available during the whole activity. We provide refreshments and a light lunch.
As direct beneficiaries we enlist women who suffer from isolation, loneliness, low esteem, depression, unemployment, separation-divorce, lost confidence in themselves and towards society. As indirect beneficiaries we enlist social services, social prescribers, GP surgeries, mental health services that thanks to the hub can refer women with psycho-social need.
Unfortunately, our hub is currently unfunded, and we need your help to keep our doors open. We are seeking financial support to cover facilitators’ fees, refreshments, equipment, volunteers’ and staff costs. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us continue to offer this essential service and provide the resources women need to thrive.
If you believe in the power of community and want to support women in a meaningful way, please consider donating today. Your generosity can make all the difference. Together, we can ensure that every woman who needs a safe space has one to turn to.
Thank you for your support!
