Around two years ago I wasn't in the best way.
I was depressed, I was stressed out all the time and I really didn't care about myself.
I've never been one to believe in fate... I still don't. But I guess this is the closest thing I'm ever going to get to it.
As I said, I was down. I'd agreed to play at my friend Lance's birthday and I've never told anyone this, but I wasn't up for it. I laboured through an OK 30-minute set and settled into a six pack or two and did what you do at parties. The night got late and there were only a few stragglers left and of course I was one of them.
Then something happened. A girl, just as drunk as I was walked into a glass door. The stragglers laughed and I guess I did too because hell, it was pretty funny at the time to a drunk depressed me. But I had this weird feeling. I somehow knew that I was going to end up marrying that girl.
Nineteen months later she is my everything. She makes me laugh, makes me feel good about myself and keeps me calm. I've never ever felt this much love for someone else and it is a complete mind fuck that someone feels the same way about me.
Six or so months ago at a Bec Stevens show I awkwardly asked her to marry me and she said yes.
I'm happier now than I've ever been and I need your help to keep her in the country, because she's Canadian. Visas are expensive and as much as I wish I had the money to just pay for it but I don't.
Both of us hate the idea of crowd funding because there are always people out there that need the money more but I'm desperate to keep her in the country because I quite simply adore her. So here it is. I'm hoping that you will try to see the shitty situation we are in and donate. Because I need help to keep the love of my life in my life.
