Help keep EHRA's PEACE project running

Hi guys, Helen and Rhiannon here,

We are going to attempt our own version of EHRA's Brandburg challenge by replicating the number of hours walked by the EHRA team (8 hours a day!!) over the period of 3 days - eek!!!! We want to do the challenge in Novemeber with dates TBC! Keep an eye on our socials for updates.

EHRA is an Elephant and Humana relations aid charity that not only aims to cultivate relationships with elephants and the Nambian community but also aids the surrounding communities with their education on elephants and their environment.

We all believe that we must protect endangered species like elephants but do many of us stop and think how difficult it is for the communities that are on the front line f this protection, and think about how scary it must feel to live side by side such huge wild animals? In addition to that, Namibians in rural areas often lack in educational opportunities beyond school in order to take a real role in the management of protection, and often their needs and viewpoints are overlooked, leading to further conflict.

That is where EHRA comes in. They have opened an education centre to provide opportunities to learn about the environment, and human-elephant conflict in order to give the communities the power to understand how to manage the elephants at a benefit to all.

I recently contacted EHRA to see how I could help out, as I had read that often Nambiains are left with limited English post-school in order to pass driving licenses and secure jobs, something that Is vital for the communities to feel empowered. I hope to offer my new English teaching skills and run some free English sessions for the surrounding communities, which will take place at the education centre.

It costs around £100 a month for wifi, and I would love to be able to supply books and a computer in order to teach the lessons. We have aimed to raise €2000 for the completion and initial start up costs.

Any donation, no matter how small would all help to keep this amazing education centre open, and I hope you enjoy watching us on our journey to completing the challenge!!
