Hey Everyone!
Some of you may be aware of the situation that is happening with Anecia, our niece on Kim’s side of the family. For those who aren’t, here is the condensed version of the story.
Anecia and her parents were involved in a serious car accident early in January. All three of them were hospitalized, but luckily Anecia was in a seatbelt and was only held for observation for minor bumps and bruises. However, Child Protective Services became involved, and Anecia was released from the hospital to Kim and myself. As the investigation continued with CPS, they determined that Anecia should not return to live with her parents for reasons we won’t discuss here. CPS was happy to have Kim and I take care of Anecia, but there is one major problem; we moved into a two-bedroom apartment last summer, and we now have three children living in one room. This living situation is a problem, and although they were happy with us taking care of her, she could be taken into Foster Care at any time should we not be able to get into a bigger place ASAP. Right now, we have five months left on a lease we can’t afford to break, and we need to get into a three bedroom soon or risk Anecia going into the Foster Care system. After speaking with our apartments, we would be able to reassign our lease to a three-bedroom apartment, but it costs a whopping $400 a month more than what we are paying right now.
Kim and I are out of options, so we are swallowing our pride and turning to our family and friends for any help that you can offer. We are not trying to gain anything besides the ability to keep Anecia, as her parents have agreed to give Kim and I guardianship. The only thing missing is the extra bedroom, and it is just beyond our reach financially. Our goal is to cover the extra $400 per month needed for the rest of our lease, which would be four months out once we get into the bigger apartment.
Some of our family and friends have already helped when it came to getting the essentials put together for Anecia, and we can’t thank you all enough for the help you have given already. Anything you can spare will help, and even the smallest donation is a step towards our goal. We have set up a gofundme.com account, as well as a donation account with Cypress Credit Union. If you choose to donate, please use whichever option works best for you, but we set the goal higher on the gofundme page because they take a percentage of the donations.
