Meet Kayla, a fierce Adaptive athlete with visual impairment who refuses to let anything stand in her way - certainly not her ability to see. Diagnosed at age 12 with Stargardt’s Disease (early-onset macular degeneration), Kayla has gradually lost her central vision. She can no longer read text, recognize faces, or judge distances, but that hasn’t stopped her from chasing her dreams.
Kayla is proud to be Titusville CrossFit’s first Visually Impaired Adaptive athlete and has inspired others to step up and believe in their own strength. In 2023, she competed in her first WheelWOD Games and placed 2nd in her Division. After narrowly missing the 2024 Adaptive CrossFit Games, she made it her mission to come back stronger this season to compete alongside returning 2024 Visual Impairment Games athlete, and box mate, Shelley Williams who joined TVCF in 2023!
Kayla has spent the past 6+ months training 2+ hours a day, 6 days a week... all with one goal in mind: Earning her spot at the 2025 Adaptive CrossFit Games in Las Vegas. Placing 8th In this years Semifinals, she did just that!
Now, we’re rallying around her to help cover the costs of registration, travel, and accommodations so she can show up, throw down, and represent the Adaptive community with pride. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help get her to the Games in September.
If you’ve ever been inspired by an underdog who never quits, this is your chance to support one. Any amount helps and is deeply appreciated. Let’s get Kayla to Vegas!
