Hello! My name is Kayla, I am 22 living alone (with my 2 cats) ((Felix the orange boy and Chanel the gray girl)) in my very first apartment.

It has only been 2 months and it has been nothing short of frustrating and uncomfortable!

Firstly, they switched my apartment 2 days before moving in because of a flea infestation.

Then, the window on the new unit has been confirmed to be growth because the seal is broken.

I submitted a work order for that BEFORE I moved in (July 31st). They put in a work order for that in late August. I have to wait upwards of 6 weeks or more for a new window. 

The management company has been unprofessional and confusing since the beginning.

On August 20th I discovered mold growing on my cats water fountain, which has NEVER happened before in my almost 4 years of owning it within multiple houses. I discovered the same looking spores in my AC. Which means my cats and I are breathing that in!

I used my own money to buy a mold test. I swabbed the ac and that is what’s in the testing dish on the right.

They are running machines to purify my air Monday Sept 15th. That process will displace me and my cats for 2 hours on the first day and then continue to run my electric bill and take up my very limited space for 3 days.

Maintenance came in on the 27th of August, put in a slightly used AC, even though I was promised a new one, and left trash on my floor.

Not to mention the place is only 300sq ft and the back half gets almost no air circulation if there isn’t a fan present. It always smells musty and feels heavy in there.

There is also only 2 fire exits (window and door) on the same wall at the front of my apartment. So it is hazardous in multiple ways.

We also have no access to fresh air, there is no screen on my window. I had to take money out of my pockets to buy one, as well as cleaning supplies and mold tests because management will barely do anything to help me. I also had to buy a new water fountain for my cats since the old one was infested with black mold. 

Since the start, or at least the 20th of August, it has been a nonstop battle of me spending money, worrying, texting THEM, calling THEM, showing up at THEIR office, physical symptoms and many emotional symptoms. My cats have even been showing signs of distress and being uncomfortable as well.

At this point, I want to fully move out which is why I’m doing this GoFundMe. It would have never came to this if my management was attentive and reassuring. It would have never came to this if I didn’t have my cats! Their health and happiness will always come first. I will need around $2400 to break my lease and then another $1200 to move somewhere else. I appreciate anything anybody can give me even if it is just advice. Thank you for your time.
