Help Katy Yu In Her Fight To Beat Cancer!

This fundraiser is for the purpose of raising funds for Katy Yu’s medical, living, and child care costs as she fights her battle with cancer.
Katy is a generous, hilarious and giving friend and a devoted mother to her 4-year old son Lleyton. As the General Manager of Estiatorio Volos and Little Anthony’s, her charisma, cheer and mentorship were deeply felt by everyone who enjoyed her hospitality, and everyone who had the good fortune to work with her.
More than all of this, Katy is a fighter, and we, as a collective of her friends and colleagues, want to help in any way we can.
We know that the hospitality industry was disproportionately affected by Covid, and we know that many people aren’t in the position to give. But there are so many people who wouldn’t be where they are today without Katy’s support, and now it’s our turn to help. We hope that if you feel the same way, you’ll give a little of what you can spare, or share and amplify this fundraiser to support her.
Katy is under the care of her oncologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the dedicated team at Princess Margaret Hospital. Funds will be allocated to continue Katy’s medical treatments, and help with associated costs like child care, transportation (as she can no longer drive), and necessities.
The cancer drug Pembrolizumab is increasingly impossible for her to afford. Single treatments taking in 3 to 4 weeks can cost as much as $10,000 to $12,000 with the possibility of adding up to $150,000 to $195,000 depending on her response time. Unfortunately, none of these costs are covered by OHIP and we would welcome others outside of the hospitality industry to feel free to donate to this worthy cause. Time is now of the utmost importance.
