Cancer sucks.
We’ve all heard the phrase a million times before, but it truly becomes a reality once you are hit with this kind of news. Instead of hand-crafting Christmas presents for her three grandchildren—Julian, Penelope, and Gwen—this year, Kathy was undergoing chemotherapy and spent the holidays in the hospital fighting this vicious disease.
Cancer sucks because it hurts our loved ones. It sucks because the fight to beat it is long and hard. And it sucks because winning that fight is very expensive. Kathy lives a modest life, but her disease has and will continue to keep her from working and collecting a paycheck. The expenses for treatment are quickly growing, as are Kathy’s daily living expenses. With this substantial loss of income, affording the treatment and medical care that will return her to health only becomes more challenging.
During tough times, family, friends, coworkers, and others all echo some form of the same eight words – “If there’s anything I can do to help…” It means a lot knowing people care, but now, if you’re so inclined, you can help.
