Help Kathryn Recover After Two Storms

Merry Christmas! This is the time for reflection of the year gone by. It is also a time for giving for those in need of a boost in their lives in any way. I have a dear friend that needs a boost in her life so she can move forward and begin to enjoy her life as it is now. My friend Kathryn has had a rough 4 years. She is 71 years old and currently lives in Texas. She had to retire early because she was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s. Her symptoms were very mild, and she decided that before they got worse that she wanted to travel a bit. That was her retirement plan anyway. She purchased a small motor home and away she went. She had a good safety plan in place etc., liquidated much of her belongings and put the remaining in storage. In Oregon, a coastal storm hit and a tree that was in the RV space where she was parked fell on her motorhome and totaled it. She and a friend went about trying to find another Motorcoach that she could get with the little settlement she got from the insurance company. They found one and it was safe to drive etc. (not in the best shape but functional) Away she went again this time she caravaned with some friends. In Texas, my friends went to see some things that they had not seen. Kathryn went to see some things that she had not seen. Another storm and another tree fell on her new, older motorhome. It totaled it. She was in New Jersey at that time. She was towing her car which was unharmed, so she was able to go and stay in a motel until the insurance company decided what to do. After a month of waiting, she decided that enough was enough and she ran out of funds as the insurance company was no longer paying for her motel room. (this is a tough gal and very self-sufficient) I talked her into putting her car and motorhome contents into storage in New Jersey and sent her a plane ticket to come home to Washington. It has been 4+ years since all of that happened and she still has her car and the only possessions back in NJ in the storage shed. She has been paying the rent on the shed because she cannot afford to go and get her belongings or to have them shipped. Her rent on a park model trailer space etc, food and medicine and medical take up her entire SS check. This is the part where I am asking for help for her to get her stuff to her from New Jersey to Mission Texas. The least amount of money it will cost to go get it or have it shipped etc. is about $5000.00. Her Christmas wish is to have her car and belongings here for Christmas. They raised the rent on the storage shed another $300.00 a month. She cannot afford to pay that amount. She tried negotiating with the to no Avail. If you can, help her with this in any way please donate to this gofundme account. That is a big want, I know, but it is worth a try. Kathryn has always worked hard when she worked and always gave back to her community, and to those in need. She still does. She is always there when anyone needs her. She went and stayed with a friend who was dying from cancer last year until he passed away because he did not have anyone else, and he wanted to die with dignity at home. She was there for over a month. Recently a dear friend in her Trailer Park was diagnosed with Cancer, hospitalized and in the final stages before she even knew she had it. She again, uprooted herself and went and stayed with her until she passed away and helped the family through a very tough time. In her working life, she was a director for a low-income drug and alcohol counseling center. She wrote the curriculum and would work directly with those who were having problems with homelessness, and lack of food etc. She brought a whole community together to better serve this population as well as the medical schools in the state. Always giving and never taking. Please give her that helping hand up that she needs right now. I hope we can raise this money before Christmas and get her stuff here for her. What a surprise that will be. Merry Christmas everyone.
